The Pirates, who committed six errors in a loosely-played contest, overcame a base-running blunder in the 11th inning and gained a 7-6 victory with the help of the Expos' fourth error of the game. Rennie Stennett opened the 11th with a double for his fourth hit and Gene Clines was hit by a pitch.

However, Stennett wandered off second base and was picked off by Mike Marshall. The Expos' reliever then tried to pick off Clines but threw wildly, allowing the runner to reach second. Vic Davalillo followed with a pop double to drive in the winning run. [The Sporting News]
