A six-run outburst in the first inning made it easy for the Red Sox to defeat the Indians, 8-1. Walks to Joe Lahoud and Carl Yastrzemski and a double by Reggie Smith produced the first two tallies. After Rico Petrocelli walked, George Scott was safe on an error as Smith scored.
