Jim Palmer gained his 18th victory of the season and Denny McLain drew his 19th defeat when the Orioles beat the Senators, 4-2. Frank Robinson and Davey Johnson homered off McLain in the sixth inning. Boog Powell drove in the Orioles' other tallies, one with a sacrifice fly in the third and one with a double in the seventh.
