Friday September 10, 1971
. . . where the 1970s live forever!
After a wait of two hours, 19 minutes because of rain in the 11th inning, Hank Aaron smashed a three-run homer to carry the Braves to a 7-5 victory over the Giants, who went down to their sixth straight defeat. Chris Arnold hit his first major league homer for the Giants and Earl Williams whacked his 31st for the Braves before the game went into overtime.

After each club counted in the 10th, the Giants went ahead in the 12th when Ken Henderson was waved home from third on a balk by Jim Nash. In the Braves' half, Jim Breazeale singled and Felix Millan walked before rain intervened. When play resumed, Ralph Garr struck out, but Aaron ended the game with his 40th homer. [The Sporting News]
