Wilbur Wood became the first White Sox pitcher to win 20 games since Gary Peters in 1964 when the knuckleballer defeated the Royals, 3-0. The White Sox gave Wood enough runs to win by scoring twice in the fifth inning on a single by Walt Williams, a stolen base, single by Pat Kelly and triple by Carlos May. [The Sporting News]
