Johnny Briggs, who hit a homer to cap a three-run outburst in the sixth inning, enabled the Brewers to gain a 4-3 victory over the Angels. With the score tied, 1-1, Bill Voss walked in the sixth and raced home on a double by Ron Theobald.

After a wild pitch, Theobald scored on a sacrifice fly by Jose Cardenal. Briggs followed with his decisive homer. The Angels rallied against Marty Pattin in the eighth, but Ken Sanders made his 76th relief appearance and gained credit for his 28th save. [The Sporting News]
