Cesar Tovar drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single in the 10th inning to give the Twins a 7-5 victory over the Athletics. Vida Blue, who started for the A's and pitched eight innings, gave up five runs on seven hits, including a homer by George Mitterwald with two men on base.

Mitterwald's blow in the eighth put the Twins ahead, 5-1, but Reggie Jackson homered to spark a three-run rally by the Athletics in their half of the eighth and homered again to tie the score in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
