A four-run rally by the Twins in the seventh inning produced a 7-3 victory over the Brewers. Harmon Killebrew homered for the Twins in the first inning, but the Brewers came back with three runs off Ray Corbin in their half. However, three Twins' relievers combined to blank the Brewers on two hits the rest of the way.

In vseventh, Steve Brye and Rick Dempsey singled to kayo Lew Krausse. Ken Sanders, the Brewers' ace reliever, took over but was unequal to the task this time. Sanders retired Tony Oliva for the second out, but singles by Cesar Tovar and Rod Carew, a pass to Killebrew and single by Steve Braun gave the Twins their four runs and pinned the loss on Sanders.
