After a shaky start, Bart Johnson settled down, struck out 12 and pitched the White Sox to a 9-4 victory over the Angels. Johnson gave up three runs in the first inning, but the White Sox put the game away with six in the second.

Walks to Carlos May and Tom Egan and singles by Luis Alvarado, Johnson and Walt Williams tied the score. After a pass to Mike Hershberger, a sacrifice fly by Rich McKinney, single by Bill Melton and double by May added three more runs. [The Sporting News]
