The Athletics broke the A. L. record for most games won on the road when they defeated the Brewers, 6-2, for their 55th victory of the season in enemy parks. The former mark of 54 was set by the Yankees in 1939. The A's decided the outcome in the first inning when Rick Monday and Reggie Jackson singled and Mike Epstein homered. [The Sporting News]
