The Giants were held to six hits by Dave Roberts but defeated the Padres, 4-1, for only their third victory in the last 14 games. A double by Bobby Bonds, safe bunt by Dave Kingman and two-out single by Hal Lanier gave the Giants two runs in the second inning.
