The Royals clinched second place in the West division and Dick Drago became the winningest pitcher in Kansas City major league history by defeating the Angels, 6-2, for his 17th victory. Bob Oliver hit a three-run homer for the Royals and Lou Piniella, who rapped three singles, batted in two runs. [The Sporting News]
