Manny Sanguillen hit a homer for the Pirates in the third inning to tie the score at 1-1, but Willie Montanez put the Phillies ahead again with a two-run smash in the home half. The homer was the 30th of the season for Montanez, setting a Phillies' club record for a rookie player.
