After pitching five scoreless innings, Scipi oSpinks was chased in his debut with the Cardinals and wound up being charged with a 6-3 loss to the Phillies. The former Astro was lifted after a single by Larry Bowa, double by Tim McCarver, single by Willie Montanez and double by Deron Johnson tied the score at 2-2.

After Tony Cloninger relieved, Greg Luzinski hit a sacrifice fly to send the Phillies ahead. Bowa singled for another run in the seventh and Luzinski hit a two-run homer in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
