Tommy McCraw hit two singles, stole two buses and scored two runs to enable the Indians to defeat the Red Sox, 3-1. Gaylord Perry, who needed relief help from Steve Mingori with one out in the ninth inning, gained credit for his first A. L. victory. McCraw scored in the second inning on an error and crossed the plate in the fourth on a single by Ray Fosse. [The Sporting News]
