A pinch-double by Jim Fairey, who drove in two runs in the eighth inning, carried the unbeaten Expos to a 2-1 victory over the Cardinals. With one out, John Boccabella singled and advanced to second on an error by Lou Brock. Tim Foli singled, Boccabella stopping at third, before Fairey batted for Bill Stoneman and sent the runners home with his double.
