An error on a bunt in the first game and a homer in the second game enabled the White Sox to sweep a doubleheader from the Royals, 1-0 and 3-2. In the lidlifter, Ed Herrmann opened the eighth inning with a double and gave way on the paths to Jim Qualls. Wilbur Wood attempted to sacrifice, but Qualls was thrown out at third. Walt Williams then batted down the third base line and when Paul Schaal threw wildly, Wood scored from first base to win his own game.

The eighth inning again was the decisive stanza in the nightcap when Carlos May smashed a homer to break a 2-2 tie. [The Sporting News]
