Rich McKinney tied the A. L. record for most errors by a third baseman in a game with four, resulting in nine unearned runs for the Red Sox, who used those tainted tallies to defeat the Yankees, 11-7. McKinney's bat was not successful in overcoming his fielding deficiencies, although he hit a homer and two singles.
