. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Run-scoring singles by Harmon Killebrew, Rod Carew and Steve Braun paced the Twins to a 3-1 victory over the Red Sox, who were the victims of a baserunning blunder in the eighth inning. Carlton Fisk led off with a single and was forced by Ben Oglivie.

Tommy Harper was safe on an error, but Oglivie failed to touch second base on his way to third and was called out on appeal. As a result, the Red Sox failed to score, although Luis Aparicio doubled and Carl Yastrzemski was hit by a pitch before Reggie Smith ended the inning by striking out. [The Sporting News]
