Welcoming the return of manager Leo Durocher, who had been ill, the Cubs defeated the Reds, 10-8, to snap their eight-game losing streak. Jim Hickman, subbing for Joe Pepltone, who was sidelined with a stomach ache, smashed a pair of three-run homers to lead the Cubs' attack.
