. . . where the 1970s live forever!
In a meeting of veteran lefthanders, Mickey Lolich triumphed over Wilbur Wood and pitched the Tigers to a 6-1 victory over the White Sox. Wood, who had pitched three straight shutouts, had his string broken in the first inning when the Tigers scored on a pass to Tony Taylor, an infield out, stolen base and sacrifice fly by Al Kaline. A triple by Willie Horton, a wild pitch and homer by Mickey Stanley added two runs in the second.

Bill Freehan kayoed Wood with a two-run homer in the third. Dick Allen saved the White Sox from being shut out with a circuit clout in the fourth before Horton ended the Tigers' scoring with a homer off Vicente Romo in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
