Homers by Orlando Cepeda and Ralph Garr started the Braves off to a 6-1 victory over the Pirates. Cepeda, batting for just the third time this year, slammed a pitch into the left field stands in the second inning. Garr connected for the circuit in the third.

The Braves added their other runs in the fifth, one scoring on a double by Garr, two on a single by Rico Carty and the last tally on a sacrifice fly by Earl Williams. Richie Hebner homered for the Pirates in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
