Willie Montanez hit a two-run homer with two out in the eighth inning to give the Phillies a 2-1 victory over the Dodgers. Terry Harmon walked before Montanez smashed his drive off Claude Osteen.

Dick Selma pitched a three-hitter for the fifth consecutive complete game by the Phillies' staff. The Dodgers mounted a major threat against Selma by loading the bases with one out in their half of the eighth, but scored only once on a sacrifice fly by Willie Crawford. [The Sporting News]
