Although kayoed in the eighth inning, Gaylord Perry received credit for the victory when the Indians defeated the Rangers, 4-2. Ray Fosse provided the Indians' decisive hit, driving in two runs with a double in the sixth.

The Rangers loaded the bases with two out against Perry in the eighth and scored twice on a single by Ted Ford and pass to Elliott Maddox before Steve Mingori clamped down to end the threat. [The Sporting News]
