Except for Bobby Bonds, who hit two triples, Gary Gentry stifled the Giants completely and pitched the Mets to a 4-2 victory. Bonds, after his triples, scored on an infield out by Garry Maddox in the fourth inning and on a sacrifice fly by Ken Henderson in the ninth.

The Mets bunched four singles, one of them by Gentry, for two runs in the second and got another marker on a homer by Cleon Jones in sixth. They added one more in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
