Bill Russell drew a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning to force in the run that gave the Dodgers a 7-6 victory over the Phillies. After the Dodgers rallied for two runs in the eighth to tie the score, Frank Robinson led off the ninth with his fourth hit of the game.

Jim Lefebvre walked and Maury Wills beat out a bunt to load the bases. Chris Short relieved Barry Lersch on the mound for the Phillies and struck out Duke Sims, but then passed Bill Russell to hand the decision to the Dodgers. [The Sporting News]
