For the second straight day, the Cubs walloped the Braves by the same score of 12-1. Jose Cardenal led the Cubs' 17-hit attack with a triple, double and two singles, driving in five runs.

Billy Williams had three hits, including a three-run homer. Jim Hickman also hit for the circuit. Fergie Jenkins pitched out of his only troublesome spot in the sixth inning when the Braves scored on a sacrifice fly by Darrell Evans with the bases loaded. [The Sporting News]
