Steve Carlton, who was effective against the Dodgers while with the Cardinals, continued his mastery by pitching the Phillies to a 5-1 victory, bringing his career record to 8-2 against the L. A. club. Don Money drove in two of the Phillies' runs with a bases-loaded double in the fourth inning.

A double by Steve Garvey and single by Bill Russell produced the Dodgers' run in the fifth. A single by Tommy Hutton drove in one run and two others scored on an error by Russell as the Phillies completed their scoring in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
