With two out, Joe Coleman committed the unpardonable sin of walking his opposing pitcher, Bill Gogolewski, with the bases loaded in the fourth inning to force in what proved to be the Rangers' winning run in a 2-1 victory over the Tigers. Ted Ford homered for the Rangers' initial tally in the second.

A walk, error, sacrifice, popup and intentional pass preceded Goglewski's appearance at the plate in the fourth. Coleman threw three straight balls, came back with two strikes and then was low on his sixth pitch. [The Sporting News]
