. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Bert Blyleven, who had won four straight games this year and 10 in a row over two seasons, was stopped on his streak when the Yankees defeated the Twins, 5-3. Gene Michael batted in a run with a triple and scored himself on an error to give the Yankees a 2-1 lead in the fifth.

Johnny Callison hit his first homer in a Yankee uniform in the sixth. Mel Stottlemyre, who was the winner with help from Sparky Lyle, drove in what proved to be the deciding run with a double in the seventh, scoring Michael, who had singled. [The Sporting News]
