With two out in the eighth inning, Dick Tidrow singled and del Unser followed with a homer to enable the Indians to defeat the Royals, 2-1. Tidrow fell one out short of a shutout and complete game, yielding the mound to Steve Mingori in the ninth after Lou Piniella homered for the Royals' run. [The Sporting News]
