Dave Cash hit a single, double and homer to lead the Pirates to a 5-2 victory over the Braves. Cash's single, a triple by Roberto Clemente and single by Richie Hebner produced two runs in the first inning.

Willie Stargell homered in the third. Cash hit for the circuit in the fourth and then doubled in the eighth to score Bob Robertson, who had reached base on a walk. [The Sporting News]
