. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Tom Seaver gained his fifth victory of the season and 100th of his major league career as the Mets won the afternoon half of separate-admission, day-and-night games with the Dodgers, 2-1. The Dodgers came back to prevail under the lights, 6-4. In the sunshine contest, the Mets scored both their runs in the fifth inning, the first coming on a homer by Ed Kranepool. Then, after issuing three walks, Dodger starter Bill Singer threw wildly in an attempted pickoff play at second base and the Mets' second run scored. Seaver was lifted in the ninth after giving up a leadoff single to Bill Buckner. The Dodgers scored on singles by Willie Davis and Wes Parker before Danny Frisella brought the game to a close.

In the night game, Davis and Willie Crawford homered in the fourth inning. The Dodgers then exploded for four more runs in the seventh on a triple by Crawford, double by Billy Grabarkewitz, single by Chris Cannizzaro, a hit batsman, a sacrifice and double by Bill Russell. [The Sporting News]
