Mike Torrez gained his third straight victory when the Expos ended a four-game losing streak by defeating the Padres, 9-3. Bob Bailey drove in three of the Expos' runs with a single and double. Tim Foli batted in two with a double.

In the seventh inning, Mike Jorgensen homered with a man on base and Ron Fairly followed with a solo swat. Garry Jestadt hit his first major league homer for the Padres. [The Sporting News]
