Without getting a ball out of the infield, the Astros scored three runs in the second inning and went on to beat the Braves, 8-2, behind the seven-hit pitching of Dave Roberts. In the second, Bob Watson walked and Tommy Helms and Roberts rapped infield hits to load the bases. Roger Metzger walked to force in the first run.

Jimmy Stewart then beat out a grounder to Felix Millan, Helms scoring, and when Hank Aaron threw to second in an unsuccessful effort to catch Metzger, who had overrun the bag, Roberts raced home with the Astros third run. [The Sporting News]
