Pinch-hitter Chris Cannizzaro beat out a grounder with the bases loaded and one out in the ninth inning to drive in the run that gave the Dodgers a 2-1 victory over the Padres. Willie Davis opened the inning with a double and, after Frank Robinson flied out, Manny Mota and Billy Grabarkewitz walked. Cannizzaro then grounded deep to the left-hand side of shortstop Enzo Hernandez, who was unable to make a play at any base. [The Sporting News]
