With last-out help from Terry Forster, Wilbur Wood gained his sixth victory when the White Sox defeated the Twins, 4-3. The White Sox counted twice off Jim Perry in the first inning on a single by Pat Kelly, double by Mike Andrews, a wild pitch and double by Bill Melton. Dick Allen drove in two other runs with a bases-loaded single in the second.

Harmon Killebrew homered for the Twins. Wood was lifted after Steve Brye doubled in the ninth and Forster struck out Eric Soderholm to end the game. [The Sporting News]
