Fred Norman posted his second straight shutout and scored the Padres' first run in a 2-0 victory over the Dodgers. Norman singled in the third inning and took second on a sacrifice.

Jerry Morales grounded to Bill Russell, who threw to third, trying to head off Norman, but Billy Grabarkewitz let the ball get away and Norman continued home. A walk, sacrifice, wild pitch and sacrifice fly by Garry Jestadt added the other run in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
