A victim of his own errors, Les Cain was the loser when the Indians defeated the Tigers, 2-1, behind the five-hit pitching of Gaylord Perry. Cain also allowed only five hits before being lifted in the seventh inning. In the first, the Tigers' lefty fielded a tap by Tommy McCraw and threw wildly to first, allowing the batter to reach third and be in position to score on a sacrifice fly by Eddie Leon.
