A crowd of 18,902, largest at Arlington Stadium since the home opener, saw the Rangers defeat the Twins, 2-1, behind the five-hit pitching of Bill Gogolewski. The Twins scored their run in the fourth inning on singles by Harmon Killebrew, Steve Braun and Bobby Darwin, but the Rangers came back with their winning pair in the fifth on a single by Joe Lovitto, double by Lenny Randle, infield out by Toby Harrah and single by Elliott Maddox.
