The Royals set club records for most hits and most runs in one game when they piled up 20 hits and crushed the Athletics, 16-1. The former Royal highs were 19 hits and 15 runs against the Angels May 4, 1969.

The Kaycee crew's attack included two homers by John Mayberry and one each by Lou Piniella and Amos Otis to tie the club mark for most circuit clouts in one game. Otis, in addition to his homer, had three other hits and drove in a total of five runs. [The Sporting News]
