After yielding only two hits in the first eight innings, Pete Broberg faltered in the ninth, but Mike Paul stepped in to complete the Rangers' 5-1 victory over the Twins. Broberg was lifted after giving up a single by Danny Thompson, run-scoring double by Rod Carew and a walk with one out. Paul retired the last two batters. Jim Perry, who started for the Twins, helped beat himself with two errors, resulting in a pair of unearned runs.
