Gaylord Perry won a duel with Mel Stottlemyre and pitched the Indians to a 3-0 victory over the Yankees. Stottlemyre extended his scoreless pitching streak to 25 innings before the Indians erupted for their runs in the eighth.

Perry led off with a double, advanced on a sacrifice and scored the first run on a wild pitch. After a single by Eddie Leon and two walks, Ray Fosse clinched the victory for his batterymate with a two-run single. [The Sporting News]
