Manager Alston said, "It was about the wildest game I've ever seen," after the Dodgers defeated the Giants, 8-5. There were eight errors in the game, five by the Giants, who committed three of them in the sixth inning when the Dodgers scored five runs.

Frank Robinson, who whacked a homer in the second inning, hit another to lead off the sixth. The Dodgers had only one other hit during the frame -- a double by Manny Mota. Don Carrithers, Giants' reliever, tied the N. L. record for most wild pitches in one inning, 3, and the Dodgers tied another league mark for most sacrifices in one inning, also 3.
