A single by Aurelio Rodriguez with the bases loaded and two out in the eighth inning drove in two runs and gave the Tigers a 5-3 victory over the Brewers. Chuck Seelbach, the third of four pitchers used by the Tigers, received credit for his first major league victory.

The Brewers collected only two hits in the game, but scored three runs in the sixth to knot the count at 3-3. Les Cain issued three passes to load the bases and yielded the mound to Fred Scherman, who walked Curt Motton to force in the first run.
