. . . where the 1970s live forever!

In a duel of lefthanders, Ken Holtzman outpitched Wilbur Wood as the Athletics gained a 4-2 victory over the White Sox, who were stopped on their six-game winning streak. Reggie Jackson homered for the A's in the first inning, but the White Sox went ahead, 2-1, before Wood gave up two runs in the seventh on a walk to Dave Duncan, double by Mike Epstein and single by Larry Brown. Jackson and Sal Bando singled and Duncan hit a sacrifice fly for the final tally in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
