. . . where the 1970s live forever!
Jerry Grote and Tommie Agee drove in two runs apiece in support of Jim McAndrew, who pitched the Mets to a 4-1 victory over the Cardinals. Grote's RBIs came on a single in the fifth inning after the Mets loaded the bases on a double by Cleon Jones, pass to John Milner and single by Wayne Garrett.

In the seventh, after Grote singled and McAndrew was hit by a pitch, both advanced on an infield out and then scored on a single by Agee. McAndrew pitched his first complete game since September 12, 1970, when he also beat the Cardinals, 3-0. [The Sporting News]
