An error by Dick Allen enabled the Angels to score a run in the ninth inning to defeat the White Sox, 4-3. With two away in the ninth, Sandy Alomar singled. When Allen muffed the throw to first base on an attempted pickoff play, Alomar raced to third. The White Sox then walked Mickey Rivers and Vada Pinson to load the bases, but Bob Oliver wrecked the strategy with a single to drive in Alomar. [The Sporting News]
