. . . where the 1970s live forever!

After a tremendous relief performance by Fred Scherman in the ninth inning, the Tigers pushed over the tie-breaking run in the 10th to gain a 5-4 victory over the Indians, who went down to their seventh straight defeat. After the Indians scored twice in the ninth and had the bases loaded with none out, Scherman retired Del Unser on a popup, Jerry Moses on strikes and Chris Chambliss on a liner.

In the 10th, Bill Freehan hit a pinch-single and advanced on a sacrifice. Tony Taylor was hit by a pitch and Mickey Stanley walked to load the bases. Ed Brinkman then hit a sacrifice fly to plate the winning run. [The Sporting News]
