Reggie Jackson homered for the Athletics in the first inning, but that was their only hit until erupting in the sixth to defeat the Rangers, 5-1. Bert Campaneris doubled in the sixth, Joe Rudi singled and Jackson walked to load the bases and three runs followed on a sacrifice fly by Sal Bando and singles by Mike Epstein and Ollie Brown.
